For this project, I was tasked with creating an abstract 3D interior based on a selected piece of art. I chose The Cha-Cha That Was Danced in the Early Hours of 24th March by David Hockney—a painting full of movement, rhythm, and bold contrasts. The goal was to translate the mood, color palette, and composition of the painting into a spatial environment using 3D modeling. Inspired by the painting’s expressive geometry and vibrant contrasts, I designed a playful, yet structured room where The Egg Chair by Arne Jacobsen serves as the hero piece. Its sculptural form and iconic design were the perfect match to reflect Hockney’s balance between energy and elegance. This was my very first 3D project, completed just weeks into the program. It gave me a strong foundation in modeling, lighting, and scene composition. Post-production was done in Photoshop, where I refined the final image by adjusting lighting, depth, and enhancing key materials to elevate the overall mood. The process of abstracting a 2D painting into a 3D environment was a valuable creative challenge and an important first step in finding my voice as a visual artist. Tools: 3ds Max, Corona Render, Photoshop Duration: 2 weeks When: 5-7 weeks into the course
